Barcelona didn't concede a goal, and Yerry Mina must take credit for that. However, he alternated between good moments, and points where he struggled against the pace of his opponents.
With the ball at his feet Mina coped well; he looked comfortable on the ball, sometimes too comfortable...like when he played a no-look pass that nearly led to a goal. This was his most notable error.
Faced with Angel and Amath, two quick and skillful forwards, Mina suffered. His size and height are noticeable in transitions of play. He will have to get used to the fast tempo in Spanish football. This is not the Brazillian league.
In attack, he showed that he will be useful weapon. Mina's height of 1.95m makes him a good target man for aerial balls, and he nearly scored from a corner in the second half. This will be another useful resource for Valverde. Although he did receive a yellow card in the 93rd minute.
Nonetheless, he grew into the game as the minutes passed, especially after Getafe's decision to sit back and play for the draw. Ernesto Valverde said he was satisfied with his make-shift defence's peformance, saying Yerry and Digne "both did well", and so begins a new chapter in Mina's story.
“Being at this club gives me indescribable happiness," Mina said after the game. “I felt nervous at times, but as the game progressed, those nerves went and I got calmer. I'm very happy with the fans."
