Only a chosen few are capable of scoring four goals in one game. But three players succeeded this weekend, leading their respective teams to important league victories.
The first was Mohamed Salah. Liverpool's top goalscorer this season continued his rich vein of form against Watford on Saturday as he tore their defence apart to find the back of the net four times. His superb performance launched him to the top of Europe's Golden Boot, where he will be hoping to stay as the end of the campaign approaches.
The next day, Mauro Icardi followed suit for Inter in their league game against his former club Sampdoria. The Argentine secured his 100th Serie A goal and went on to score a hat-trick in 14 minutes. One of which, a backheel, dazzled every spectator in the stadium.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo, not one to be outdone by his competitors, fired four past Girona in a nine-goal thriller at the Bernabeu on Sunday. Despite being way off the pace at the beginning of the season, the Portuguese forward is now an outside bet to win the 'Pichichi' in May.
Three great goalscorers, protagonists of the weekend's fixtures. Able to carry their respective teams and create terror among their opposition's defences.
