Liverpool reportedly made an enquiry into the £62 million rated goalkeeper in the January transfer window and now hope to finalise a move.
Jurgen Klopp has had ongoing issues between the sticks, with Simon Mignolet underperforming and Loris Karius only just finding his feet at the club.
"Forget about Mignolet, we've made our feelings clear he's not good enough to be a goalkeeper at the real top level," said ex-Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher to 'Sky Sports' in December.
"He's [Klopp] bought Karius, that hasn't worked out. He's not good enough either... It's imperative that Liverpool sign a goalkeeper."
Since Klopp took the reins at Liverpool, his side have conceded 113 times - more than any of the current top six in the same amount of time.
After Wojciech Szczesny left Roma for Juventus in the Summer, Alisson rose to the No.1 spot. Currently, the Brazilian holds the best save percentage in the league: 80.21 per cent. An incredible feat when you consider he has bettered the veteran Gianluigi Buffon.
'Sky Italy' say that Alisson's strengths include his positioning, distribution and anticipation, considering him to be a "complete goalkeeper."
