The German failed to train on Monday and Tuesday after falling ill, leading to concern that he could miss Sunday's clash.
Speaking ahead of the game against Ostersunds on Thursday, 'Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger admitted that Ozil had been bedridden earlier in the week but that he had taken part in a session on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, the Frenchman was keen to stress the playmaker's need to continue working hard between now and the end of the week in order to ensure his place in the team against Pep Guardiola's side.
"Mesut was sick until today, today was his first training session. He was in bed Monday, Tuesday. I would certainly have played him (against Ostersunds)," Wenger explained.
"Because he was sick he will have to work hard tomorrow and I will not play him. "
The former Real Madrid man is expected to be a key player for Arsenal going forward, with many fans intrigued to see how he combines with new recruits Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
