The world of football can be cruel, one day you're riding the crest of a wave as one of the most highly-rated young players in the world, the next you're not even wanted by your current employers.
Young goalkeeper Augusto Batalla has had almost that exact scenario play out for him, albeit on a slightly smaller scale.
Batalla was considered one of Argentina's most talented young players, becoming River's No 1 goalkeeper in 2016 following the departure of Marcelo Barovero, however, a series of costly errors has seen the Argentine side re-evaluate the 21-year-old's role in the team.
The reported interest in the player from Real Madrid seems a lifetime ago and now, Batalla looks set to be sent out on loan.
This will prove key in the youngster's development, with the River academy product needing to shine elsewhere or face his River career ending before it ever really got going.
Batalla's story is similar to that of Tomás Andrade, who is also facing being sent out on loan by 'Los Millonarios' according to 'TyC Sports'.
