In February, all seemed to be set for Arthur to move to Barcelona in summer. The Brazilian travelled to Spain to finalise his transfer from Gremio, agreeing on a €30m fee, with the club to retain the midfielder's services for the rest of the season.
However, according to new reports, things aren't as certain as they seemed. As reported by 'Marca', Arthur's agents have returned to Brazil, after failing to come to an agreement with Barcelona representatives over a transfer fee and wages.
Apparently Barca were not willing to meet Gremio's €50m release clause for the Brazilian, and do not agree with his agents' wage demands. Furthermore, the player is worried that he will not receive enough game-time at the Catalan club, with Paulinho and Philippe Coutinho occupying similar positions to the proposed signing.
Whether Barcelona will be able to come to an agreement with the player remains to be seen, but for now the move isn't the done-deal we all believed it was a few weeks ago.
