Juventus and Borussia Dortmund were side by side in their infallible home form and that continued right to the end, as the longest unbeaten home runs in Serie A and Bundesliga both came to an end on Saturday on the same number of games.
The German side went 41 matches without losing at home, until RB Leipzig arrived at the Westfalenstadion. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side came away from Dortmund with a 3-2 victory in the eighth game of the 2017-18 season.
On the very same day, Juventus also saw their long-standing unbeaten home run of 41 games in Serie A come crashing down when Lazio emerged victorious with a shock 2-1 win, also in the eighth game of the season.
Two different teams, with two very different styles, but they both went two years, and 41 matches, without losing at home in their respective leagues, until this weekend.
