In the end it was Celtic who emerged victorious in the game, but McCrorie's performance at the heart of the Rangers defence caught tht eye of fans and team-mates alike.
Speaking after the game, Tavernier praised his fellow defender's performance, saying: 'I thought young Ross had a cracking game for his first Old Firm. He didn't look out of place.
'Ross works hard in training and did really well in the pre-season games and coming on against Partick.
'Today he showed great signs of being a promising young player. As long as he keeps his head down and works hard, he'll be a cracking centre back.'
The young defender made his debut for Rangers against Partick Thistle in the betfred Cup on Tuesday after Bruno Alves suffered a calf strain but 'Gers' boss Pedro Caixinha has never been in any doubt as to the player's potential and is a big admirer of his talents, saying after that game that: 'Ross McCrorie is going to be one of the best centre-halves in history, not just for this club but for this country.'
The Portuguese hadn't changed his mind after the Old Frim clash either, saying: 'McCrorie is a player I don't have doubts about. I like Ross a lot and did really well.
'He didn't shake and didn't fail the test. That's his mentality. He did his job okay on Saturday.'
