Romero considers United departure

The Argentine is very much second choice at Old Trafford, with David De Gea the club's undisputed starter.

Romero started for the 'Albiceleste' in their World Cup final defeat against Germany in 2014, but is concerned about the competition he is now facing from the likes of Augustin Marchesin, who was given the nod in Argentina's recent friendlies.

The 30-year-old has only made four appearances for United so far this season, two in the EFL Cup and two in the Champions League and whilst he is currently still considered Argentina's No. 1, he fears that could change in the next six months.

English publication 'The Sun' reports that Romero is keen to move on to a club where he can play regular football, even if it means a step down in terms of stature.

However, with United hoping to challenge on all fronts this season and with doubts persisiting about the future of De Gea, Jose Mourinho is unlikely to be willing to part with one of the Premier League's best No. 2s.
