Van Basten has dared to start another debate. Would the AC Milan side in which he shone have beaten a Barcelona team containing Lionel Messi? The Dutchman has no doubts about the question.
"We always had fun. Not just on the pitch. That was our secret. The thing that I regret the most is my retirement. Our cycle [of trophies] lasted three or four years in Italy and the world, and Barcelona's cycle would have been virtually nothing," he told 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.
He also praised Zlatan Ibrahimovic. "Ibrahimovic is the heir to my throne, but it's be interesting to see how Belotti, the next Vieri, does. In terms of who is the best, it's difficult to choose. There's a lot of talent. People pay to watch Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra...," he added.
