"I’m the best player in history," Cristiano Ronaldo told 'France Football' after levelling with Lionel Messi on five Ballon d'Ors. The Portuguese striker claimed the award for the second year in a row before positively drowning himself with praise.
The Real Madrid star looked back at the early years of his career, claiming he knew from the beginning he was different to his peers: "Since I was 14, 15 or 16 years old I knew that I was different from other kids," Ronaldo said. "I did different things."
"I realized that I was good at Manchester United, when I played with players like Giggs, Keane or Ferdinand. I had talent and I knew I could win the Ballon d'Or," said the Portuguese striker after winning trinket number five in Paris.
"I don’t see anyone better than me. No player does things that I cannot do myself, but I see things others can’t do," Ronaldo concluded in candidly bold fashion. "There’s no more complete player than me, in the good and the bad moments."
