The 62-year-old resigned from his job at Crystal Palace in May and with transfer spending by Premier League clubs closing in on the £1bn mark this summer Allardyce believes that this influx of money is making things harder for managers.
The former England manager told 'BBC Sport', "The difficulty for managers is the amount of money that is being spent."
Allardyce said that managers are spending a fortune in order to achieve marginal improvements to their side.
"You're searching for just a small percentage and having to pay millions and in some cases hundreds of millions for that little difference."
"The actual increase in the team is probably less than 5% and that's what you're searching for now," he explained.
"I'm glad all the aggravation is elsewhere and not with me," concluded the 62-year-old.
